Originally the Irish (Gaelic) song "Rachad-sa 's mo Cheaití (My Kitty and I Will Go walking) " supposedly. It's actually pretty hard to find the origins of this one online. Somewhere along the way, the song was translated/sung in English. Jean Ritchie and Waterson:Carthy do some pretty neat covers of it as well.

This is also a really hard song to sing...you can hear it.
